Four Honda Models Recognized as Greenest Cars on the Market

It’s that time of year again, where the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) releases its ranks of the “Greenest” cars currently on the market. The organization ranks the 12 greenest cars currently available to drivers in the U.S. and we are very happy to announce that four new Honda models have been named in this year’s honors.

To determine which cars will get the awards, the ACEEE judges them based on fuel economy, pollution output, and overall contribution to global warming. The Honda Civic Hybrid was one of the best-ranked gasoline powered vehicles after coming in 5th place. The Honda Civic Natural Gas and the Honda Insight came in 9th and 10th respectively.

Vice President of Environmental Business Development at American Honda, Steven Center, commented on the awards, saying, “Honda has embraced the challenge to bring to market more energy-efficient mobility solutions to reduce CO2 emissions. ACEE’s recognition of Honda’s fuel-efficient models over the past 16 years, including a diverse lineup of alternative fuel vehicles, is recognition of the Honda engineers who continue to work towards our goal to leave ‘Blue Skies for our Children.”1

The legendary Honda Odyssey also got honorable mention as a “Greener” car by the ACEE after being ranked highest amongst minivans.
